A Word From Ron & Mike… The Fellowship of San Antonio is a Christ-Centered Church and Community-Centered Church. Our future could not be brighter! We are located in the middle of the fastest-growing area of one of the fastest-growing cities in America. The gospel message of grace and hope will surely be shared throughout these hills and homes as long as The Fellowship is strong and vibrant. So many people have contributed greatly to make this Church become what it is through their prayers, labor and financial giving. The Solid Ground Campaign is another way we can help our Church move forward in faith.
There are many things in life that will not outlast us, but the Church and the Word of God will always be here as long as we are faithful to God and the next generation. We are grateful to those who have helped us reach our goals to date. We are thankful for the wonderful people who give to the General Budget regularly allowing us to remain strong and vibrant. But, we are not finished with the task or vision God has given us.
We know we cannot “out envision” God nor “out give” God, but we also know the only way we can fail is if we do nothing. Together, with each person helping, we can claim the land forevermore!
The Lord told the Israelites “Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.” (Numbers 33:53). Our calling is no less for our time, our worship, our future and the future of Christ’s work here at The Fellowship of San Antonio!
The Vision
From the very beginning, God instilled in the Charter Members of The Fellowship of San Antonio a vision—a vision to be a loving, inclusive group of people sharing God’s grace through Jesus Christ to the community around them.
The Vision Takes Form
Meeting on Saturday night in a borrowed church during that first year in 2003, the Charter Members of FOSA began their search for a home of their own and found 29.1 acres in the heart of the Stone Oak area—the fastest growing community in San Antonio. Located next door to the Buckner Fanning Christian School, the land provided an opportunity for FOSA to join God’s work already in progress. The new Church family secured a loan, bought the land and began the planning phase to develop a 24-hour-a-day, seven-days-a-week facility—a Center for our Community—available for worship, ministries, fellowship, sports and community events.
The Vision Moves Forward
In 2004 God presented a new opportunity that would provide additional land for FOSA and capital for the Buckner Fanning Christian School. FOSA initiated our first capital campaign – Celebrate! - to acquire the additional land and build a multi-purpose center. Based on FOSA member pledges, we were able to secure funding to begin construction on our first building.
The Vision Becomes Reality
In the spring of 2006, FOSA members and guests began to worship in our new home. Although not completely finished, FOSA members indeed celebrated God’s blessings. Where He had guided, He had also provided the following:
*Worship Center & Fellowship Hall
*Classrooms for Bible Study
*Conference Room & Parlor
*Outdoor Plaza
*Nursery & Gymnasium
*Kitchen & Offices
Thanks to this facility, FOSA began growing in members, needs, ministries and community awareness. Different community groups began using our facilities for meetings, sports camps, art shows, etc. This fall we will partner with the San Antonio Food Bank to become the first community collection center in San Antonio to help meet basic needs of less fortunate citizens. FOSA is becoming the Church of that early vision.
The Vision Challenge
FOSA has enjoyed a wonderful journey, but God’s work through our church is not finished. There are so many needs waiting for ministries to meet them. To move forward with those ministries and with the FOSA vision, we must first meet a current challenge.
We must secure the ownership of the original 29.1 acres acquired in 2003.
SOLID GROUND Securing FOSA’S Future
On December 15, 2009, the five-year anniversary of the purchase of the 29.1 acres, the original interest-only loan will be due and payable. We have an opportunity to refinance that loan, but only with your help!
With your pledge commitment, we can
* Secure a new loan to pay off the existing loan
* Reduce the amount we currently spend on debt service
* Secure funds to use toward ministries, missions and other budget needs
Once the loan on the 29.1 acres has been paid, the future of The Fellowship of San Antonio will be secured and the original Vision will continue to move forward in new and special ways!
SOLID GROUND is a three-year commitment campaign to raise $600,000.
How Your Three-Year Commitment Will Help:
$5 per week = $780 gift
$10 per week = $1,560 gift
$20 per week = $3,120 gift
$40 per week = $6,240 gift
After prayerful consideration, please complete your pledge commitment and return it to our office by Sunday, November 8, 2009.
SOLID GROUND is an over-and-above pledge commitment. We prayerfully request this commitment not be in lieu of your regular tithing to God.
